BURUNDI is situated in Central Africa, and is a land of hills and valleys, with the Malagarasi River running through the Central Plateau.

The capital, Bujumbura, lies on the shore of Lake Tanganyika, and offers water-sports such as sailing and water-skiing.

Other places of interest include the former Royal cities of Muramvya and Gitega.

A hot, equatorial climate around the Lake; less hot and more pleasant in the rest of the country. The rainy season is from October to May.
