CHAD is situated in Central Africa, and is a country of deserts, equatorial forests, and, in the North, the volcanic Tibesti Mountain Range of sheer cliffs and canyons, set among sand-dunes.

The capital, N’Djamena, lies in the Southeast, to the South of Lake Chad.

Permits are required to travel outside the capital.

The climate is hot, with the rainy season (in the South), from May to October.
