COSTA RICA is one of the Central American states which bridges North and South America. It lies between Nicaragua and Panama , with the Caribbean Sea to the East, and the Pacific Ocean to the West.
The mountains, which range from the North, rise higher in the Central and Southern regions, with lowlands on both coastlines.

The country is famous for its glorious National Parks, which abound in flora and fauna, mainly the Braulio Carrillo, Santa Rosa, Corcovado, and Cahuita.
The National Park of Poas contains a smouldering volcano, the centre of which houses a hot-water lake which changes colour from grey to green to turquoise

The Atlantic green turtle egg-laying grounds are protected in the Tortuguero National Park, as is the coral reef in the Cahuita.

Most of the cities and towns are influenced by Spanish heritage, especially the capital San Jose, which is situated near the beautiful Meseta central region.

The climate is hotter in the central areas. The rainy season is from May to November - the warm, dry season from December to May.
