CUBA
, the largest Caribbean island, lies 45 km (80 miles) South of Florida. It is fairly forested and mountainous, with the Sierra de Los Organos range to the West of Havana, (the Capital), the Trinidad mountains in the centre of the island (rising to the East), and the rugged Sierra Maestro range encircling the port of Santiago de Cuba (the old capital).
Although Cuba's main crop is sugar, it is better known for the fine tobacco grown here, and the famous 'Havana' cigars.
The climate is sub-tropical, with the rainy season from May to October.
